Who am I?

2 Samuel 7:18

…”Who am I , O Sovereign Lord, and what is my family that you have brought us this far?”

This has been in my thoughts over the past few weeks now!! Finally, last night in my quiet time it was articulated by the newly crowned King David! Who am I Lord that you would call me to this neighborhood? Who am I that you would give me the words to pray, with parents I have never met, for their child who has just asked Jesus to be her Savior? Who am I, O Sovereign Lord, that you would deliver me from a sinful life and clean my heart to make it something new….a heart that is called to be a missionary in a sometimes dark place?

Can I stop and reiterate to you that my family is no different from your family? Our calling  may be a little different but make no mistake YOU HAVE A CALLING too!

You see for the past few weeks I have been praying for the church in general. One can look around and see that we need to all be doing this at this point in time. Pray with me for the Body of Christ!

Living here in Countryside has just amplified this praying even more! I am made aware daily of the fact that there is still so much to do! The harvest is RIPE!! But, I am beginning to see that it takes us moving out of our comfortable seats in our big, beautiful, sanctuaries. The people who need Jesus are not there!! They are in the houses next door to us or the trailer park down the road. They are in the restaurants where we eat and sitting next to us at our children’s soccer games! We need to see the body at work!!

Unfortunately, we sometimes just do not have the time to do this!! Have you noticed this? It is much easier for us to take up an offering or give some items  away to bless someone, say a prayer for them on Sunday, and go on to our  own busyness. I say “us” because in many ways it is ME too. I am hoping to challenge you with that this week as God has surely been challenging me.

Who am I to God???

A chosen person

A royal priesthood

A holy nation

That I may DECLARE his praise!! (2 Peter 2:9)

Church, it is time for us to DECLARE it….this is an action word. It is something we have to DO!

I have seen some great examples of this here. Last week, I saw a sweet friend of mine and her two young children buy groceries for two of our neighbors that are trying to take a better path with their lives. I have seen the body at work in a wonderful new friend of mine who has been teaching a small Spanish class in hopes that we will be able to communicate better with the Hispanic community here. I have seen the body through our friends and family that are so eager to participate in our Christmas Connecting Tree by sponsoring a family or a child.Lastly, I have seen the body at work through many texts, phone calls and emails and even our very first support donations from people that believe in this ministry and want to be involved. This is the Body at WORK!!

What is God wanting you to DO this week for HIS glory? Who do you need to DECLARE his praises to ? It is time for his church to RISE UP!! It is time for obedience…..The harvest is RIPE and it is HERE!!20151112_164917
